New Home Construction - Chalky, faded paint with gaps and cracks everywhere |
|
The majority of our work is the 3 year old plus... repaint.
Why? Bottom
line... Budget.
To be competitive in the new home market most General Contractors
logically cut corners where they can. A good place for that is with
the paint quality and the painters cost pf. Fast and cheap painters get
new
home construction business. "Buy that budget chalky water, fly at it and you
may make some profit. Buy quality paint like Benjamin Moore and paint a new home right the first time... you
will soon go out of business because most general contractors don't
care about paint quality. they know the home will sell regardless".
They know the majority don't notice the crappy work until they've moved
in. "I stopped painting new homes 20 years ago because I couldn't stand using cheap paint and rushing all the time.".
Almost every new home I
see these days could have a much better paint job but suffers because
of budget and lack of consumer knowlege. The home owners
don't see how bad their paint is until 6 months after they've moved in.
Chalky, faded
walls and gaps and cracks around your trim.. . Sound familiar?
New Home Construction/ Production painting is all about getting paint on as fast
as possible and as cheap as possible. Chalky paint hides bad drywall and all the rest that goes along
with production contacting/ spec homes. Its all about the money and hiding mistakes.
This is
where the PAINTING Guys shine.
Can we fix the bad paint job? Absolutely! Repaints are our
speciality. Your previous paint job will look like it was only primed after we're finished. GUARANTEED!
So what's the difference between a $50 can of paint and an $22 can?
The higher
grades of paint contain titanium and other goodies which give the paint more coverage and work ability per sq ft. Cheaper
paints contain little or no titanium, relying instead on clay, gels or fillers. As a
result, it may takes three or more coats of cheap paint to equal the
coverage of two coats of high-quality paint.
Another big
difference is in durability. The more expensive paints are also more
washable and offer greater scrub resistance. If you try washing dirt
off a cheaper paint, you're likely to wash off some of the paint itself.
Another
benefit of higher-quality paints is their reduced tendency to spatter and drip.
They contain an anti-spattering agent that produces less mess than
inferior paints. They are also cleaner (strained more) better for spraying.
Paints come in a variety of finishes, including
flat, eggshell, semigloss/satin and high gloss. Flat paint is more
forgiving and hides flaws well, but it doesn't stand up well to
scrubbing (except Bengamin Moore Ulti Matte!) High-gloss paint is washable and easier to maintain, but it
reveals surface imperfections and painting errors.
