Since Aura was introduced to Prince

Nothing compares to its finish, coverage, durability and colour. At $70
a gallon, it better be good! ... and, its worth every penny. If
your painter isn't using this paint, they are out of touch and doing
you a disservice.

Garden Sprayer for Staining a Log Home

BEFORE YOU START read this on cleaning your logs
prior to any staining

Using a garden, hand pump like this to spray / apply stain on a log
home is
ridiculous.

A recent contractor recommended me to use a $30 hand pump/ garden
sprayer for applying stain to a $600,000 log home. The owner of the
home also thought this sounded like a great idea, and a great way for
him to possibly save money if he did the staining himself. Logically,
why pay a painter to stain the outside of his log

How much do I thin my paint?

Traditional Interior Wall Painting: I usually never thin paint that I am rolling. I do however, always thin the paint that I am cutting (using a brush) around trim and ceilings, taking in consideration that I will need more coats from the cut because of this.

Why do I mainly thin my paint?

Its much easier to cut a line with thinner paint than thick. Thick paint also leaves more ridges and lines from the brush hairs. Also, when you thin paint it tends to dry duller. There is a very good re

Quality painting is all about prep
work. Don't rush your prep work and great results come together
in the end.

Caulking and how you fill and seal nail holes and gaps, and... (VERY IMPORTANT) clean the gaps (wipe excess caulk) between your trim and walls, cabinets etc... is a big part of why our work and paint
lines looks so extra nice. It takes the same amount of time just to
caulk new trim as it does to poorly caulk and

testing colors on walls before painting

Once again, a HGTV designer show sparked this topic.

Question - To test a few colors on a "wall" before painting, for best results... NEVER USE A BRUSH, (especially right at eye level in the middle of the wall)! Unless of coarse, you are planning on brushing on the entire wall.

WHY?

Brushes leave brush marks. When you finally roll the chosen wall color on, you will see the obvious brush marks, definitely a difference in texture where the brush was stroked; even if you feathered/smothe

From what I've read... the most common mistake people make is hanging their pictures too

But of course, "eye level" means different things to different people.

If you are looking for some helpful tips on how high to hang
art... 60" to 67" standard represents the average human
eye-height and is regularly used as a standard in many galleries and
