Should new countertops be installed before or after the cabinet painting is done?
In most cases new countertops can installed before or after but if they are Installed before painting, it’s important the installers hold off on using any silicon where paint would be applied. Paint does not stick to silicon.
The usual places they use silicon is where a counter is touching a side panel. We can remove silicon but it’s time consuming which adds to labour costs.
If you are changing countertops before painting, installers should not use Silicon where wood will be painted until after the painting is completed. Why?
- Paint does not stick to silicon.
Silicon removal is tedious and problematic to kitchen cabinet painting. Any silicon touching wood should only be applied after painting.
