Product Used: Benjamin Moore ARBORCOAT Stain-Translucent

For this project, we chose Benjamin Moore ARBORCOAT Stain-Translucent. It's a versatile stain suitable for various wooden surfaces, including decking, siding, furniture, and gazebos.

Benefits of ARBORCOAT Stain

  • Long-lasting Protection: This stain offers excellent durability, ensuring your wooden surfaces stay protected for years.
  • Natural Beauty: The translucent finish enhances the wood's natural grain and appearance, giving it a fresh and vibrant look.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for a wide range of wooden surfaces, making it an excellent choice for many projects.

Our Staining Process

Getting Ready

  • Cleaning: We thoroughly cleaned the gazebo to remove any dirt, debris, or old finishes, providing a clean surface for the stain.
  • Sanding: Light sanding was done to ensure the stain adheres properly to the wood.

Applying the Stain

  • Flood Coating: We used a "flood coat" technique to apply the stain. This method ensures even coverage and deep penetration into the wood fibers.
  • Drying Time: We allowed adequate drying time between coats to achieve a smooth and even finish.

Special Attention: Cedar Shingles

We also stained the old cedar shingles, giving them a renewed appearance and additional protection. The ARBORCOAT stain worked well to revitalize the shingles, enhancing the overall look of the gazebo.

The Results

The gazebo now looks refreshed and well-protected, with a finish that highlights the natural beauty of the wood. The transformation is subtle but noticeable, providing a new lease on life for the structure.
