Ingredients added to paint to increase coverage, reduce cost, achieve durability, alter appearance, control rheology and influence other desirable properties. Less expensive than prime hiding pigments such as titanium dioxide. Examples: barium sulphate, calcium carbonate, clay, gypsum, silica, talc. May also improve coating performance.
FLOETROL is an additive specially formulated for use with water-based paints and woodstains, it makes them work and feel like an oil-based paint. Added to any water-based paint, FLOETROL increases the open time, improves workability and eliminates brush marks and roller misses.
Use with caution, they alter the paint viscosity in unwanted dramatic ways.
